Volunteer Coordinator:
Roles and Responsibilities: A volunteer coordinator is responsible for the
implementation and development of effective methods to recruit and retain
sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet operational needs. They are to ensure
that all volunteers meet guidelines and training in place for that specific
program. Coordinate activities and scheduling with appropriate personnel. Manage
volunteer inquiries through e-mail, phone, or in person and keep accurate
accountability. This is to include Fire Corps, CERT, and any other volunteer
opportunities that may arise. Volunteer coordinator must understand how
valuable volunteers are to city functions. Each volunteer can offer their
specific skills, which adds to the successfulness of an event. This also
requires knowledge of each volunteer and their strengths. Must be able to
multi-task, have attention to detail, and knowledge of basic computer skills.
Events Coordinator:
Roles and Responsibilities: The
events coordinator is responsible for overseeing all events within Emergency
Services department. They will be able to work with the volunteer coordinator
in securing volunteers if needed. They should also be able to plan events with
over 100 attendees, throughout the city. This may include creating flyers,
generating e-mails, tracking registration, etc. Event coordinator will also be
responsible for setting the location, date, time, speaker list, food (if
applicable), any equipment needed (tables, chairs, projector, etc.) as well as
communicate with community leaders, city officials, and city residents. An
event coordinator must be detail orientated and have knowledge of basic
computer skills.
